Going Green

Bermuda is home to more golf courses per square mile than anywhere else in the world. Five US presidents, Babe Ruth, and Winston Churchill have all hit the greens on the tropical island. Famous favorites include:

Port Royal Golf Course: Described by Philip Johnston with the Daily Telegraph as one of the world’s most exclusive municipal courses. The Southampton course hosted the PGA Grand Slam of Golf from 2009 to 2014.

Mid Ocean Club: Ranked sixty-ninth in the world by Gold Course Architecture, the private club counts former New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg and Michael Douglas on its members list. Though private, visitors are welcome on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. The fifth hole is part of golf lore, at par four and 433 yards with a mangrove lake to the left.

St. George’s Golf Club: Robert Trent Jones Sr. designed this 18-hole, par-62 course—it was his last prior to retirement.

Riddell’s Bay Golf & Country Club: A narrow course in Warwick with picturesque water views that puts the pros to the test with a precise need for accuracy.

Tucker’s Point Golf Club: A hilltop, 18-hole, par-70 course that’s been buzzworthy for both its panoramic views and undulating fairways since its redesign by Roger Rulewich in 2002.

Belmont Hills Golf Club: Manmade lakes, a waterfall, and TifEagle greens, the new golf standard, make this par-70 challenge a must-play while visiting Bermuda.
