Bringing families together aboard the ships.
On a Royal Caribbean International cruise vacation, families enjoy a collection of amazing experiences that challenge all limitations. The award-winning cruise line has been recognized by Travel + Leisure readers as one of the world’s best vacation options for families. Where else can you cruise with Shrek, Alex from Madagascar, and other DreamWorks characters? The ships offer a variety of activities, dining venues, and entertainment options that are fun for the whole family—and are included in the cruise fare.
Whether traveling with tots or teens, find something for everyone on Royal Caribbean ships. There are unprecedented family-friendly selections with options for every age group and interest. On the following pages, we’ve outlined the need-to-know information for each age group to help you make the most of your time onboard.
Royal Babies and Tots
Royal Caribbean has created adventures to keep even the tiniest cruisers entertained. Royal Babies and Tots is geared towards kids six months to three years old. Tots will receive expert and educational care that nurtures their growing curiosity. The Royal Tots Art program even features creative activities designed for parents and children to enjoy precious moments together.
Adventure Ocean Youth Program
On Royal Caribbean cruises, kids aren’t just kids. They’re scientists exploring the insect world, eye-patched pirates sailing the high seas, or gold-winning athletes at the Wacky Olympics. The Adventure Ocean Youth Program is tiered in three levels: Aquanauts (ages three–five), Explorers (ages six–eight), and Voyagers (ages nine–11). Kids in this program will dive into a world of magic with bubbling potions, pajama parties, and story nights.
Adventure Ocean Essentials
These little at-sea adventurers enjoy the magic of Bubbling Potions, uncover the dinosaur-sized secrets of Jurassic Junior, and take over the ship with the Pirate Party Parade.
Hands-on science activities and interactive art sessions activate the minds and stimulate the imaginations of young cruisers, who also enjoy dance parties and ice cream socials.
How about a scavenger hunt with new friends from around the world? That’s just the beginning for Voyagers, who also enjoy sports tournaments, talent shows, video game showdowns, and much more.
Just for Teens
This isn’t some structured set of classes or rules—Royal Caribbean believes “almost adults” deserve a vacation all their own. Teens are given the freedom they deserve to join preplanned events and activities throughout the day or to simply hang out in teen-only spaces—where the Adventure Ocean staff keeps the good times coming. Teens are broken out by age group so they can enjoy specialized programs made to expand their imaginations in interactive spaces designed just for them. Scheduled activities may include anything from rock-climbing competitions and pool parties to teen dinners, open-mic nights, and talent shows.
Refueling with Kids
Travel back in time to 1950s America for classic hamburgers, fries, and milkshakes.
Boardwalk Dog House
Take a seat at the counter for a variety of traditional hot dogs, brats, sausages, and more.
A delicious global pavilion, ideal for even the fussiest of eaters.
Perfect for guests who want a slice or two of authentic New York-style pizza.
There’s also My Family Time Dining, Royal Caribbean’s expedited dining service in the Main Dining Room. Kids are served their meals and then picked up by the Adventure Ocean staff so parents can enjoy the rest of the dinner at a leisurely pace.
Fun for the Whole Family
Sure, the youth program is award-winning and the teen hangouts are awesome, but there’s even more fun to be had together as a family on a Royal Caribbean cruise. Get together for festivals, poolside games, physical challenges, karaoke events, theme nights, and more. The ships were built for family fun, with mini-golf courses, rock-climbing walls, ice-skating rinks, FlowRider surf simulators, and a ton of other exciting venues.
Royal Caribbean’s partnership with DreamWorks Animation brings you more characters from your favorite movies. Where else can you see Po from Kung Fu Panda; Shrek, Fiona, and Puss in Boots from Shrek; and Alex the Lion, Gloria the Hippo, King Julien, and the Penguins from Madagascar all in one place?
Also designed with families in mind, the groundbreaking Family Connected Junior Suites on ships in the new Quantum Class connect three different types of staterooms through a vestibule. The special layout provides separate bedrooms and bathrooms for multi-generational families, which means more alone time and more family time—the perfect combination for the perfect vacation.
